The Creation of 78 Utility Panels
Central States Industrial's (CSI's) expert craftsmen recently finished a project for the expansion of a new biologics clinical manufacturing facility. More than $200 million will go into the development of the five-story facility, which will enable the production of complex biologics and vaccines.
CSI collaborated with the owner, architecture and engineering (A&E), construction management (CM), and mechanical contractor. CSI experts worked with these teams to develop designs that met project requirements, reduce overall cost, and employ strategies to improve turnaround time.
The biologics clinical manufacturing facility needed 78 utility panels for their expansion, including:
- 45 electrical cabinets
- 600 valves and instruments
- Over 1500 documented welds
- 280 service lines
CSI delivered the completed project six weeks ahead of deadline.
1. UTILITY CABINET with Process gases and glycol
This utility panel has a lower electrical cabinet and lines for compressed air, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and tempered glycol.
2. UTILITY CABINET with CIP routing
This utility panel has a lower electrical cabinet and lines for compressed air, tempered glycol lines, clean-in-place (CIP), and clean-steam.
3. Single WFI Utility cabinet
The use point panel has one line that supplies water for injection (WFI). WFI is purified water that is often used in sterile environments, and in this case, in the development of life-saving vaccines.
4. Double WFI UTILITY CABINET
The use point panel has two lines that supply water for injection (WFI).
